GM Hodges in only his 2nd year, wrapped up the 2004/05 GBL Championship from fast finishing GM Sonego who took out the 2nd half of the year and overall 2nd prize. GM Hodges claimed the $500 bounty and prestige that goes with the Championship. He told the assembled media he planned to spend the money on strippers, drugs, booze and the rest he will squandor.
The year will be rememberered as one of the most controversial ever under the stewardship of GM "Amsterdamaged" Wald. Most controversy stemmed from player suspensions due to the Detroit Indiana rumble which the league was ill-prepared to handle and which saw GM Sonego come under the microscope of the league front office. The 2nd half roster changes imposed by the monkeys at ESPN.com also caused a stir, resulting in a fall from grace from contenders GM EMac and GM Dunne, the latter who went so far as to threaten to pack his bag and walk away from the league. Only last minute counselling from VOR GM Entwisle kept GM Dunne at the high stakes table known as the GBL and see out an action packed season which many regard as the "best season ever".
2005/06 season is now only a month away and under the revolutionary like leadership of GM Cottton who has taken over the mantle as Commish. Early money is flooding in to back sophomore sensation Ross the Boss who has had an outstanding pre-season. Time will tell and many are waiting with baited breath for tip off. Game Orrrrn !
